Point Duty Threat Hunter - Bushfire detection

Introducing Our Advanced Bushfire Detection System

Bushfires are a persistent threat in Australia and around the world, causing devastating damage to communities, wildlife, and the environment. At Point Duty, we’re proud to introduce our constantly evolving bushfire detection solution, Threat Hunter. Leveraging advanced AI technology, Threat Hunter identifies fires early and enables rapid response efforts.

How It Works

Our bushfire detection system uses bespoke artificial intelligence trained on global and synthetic datasets to analyse imagery from cameras. This robust approach ensures the system can detect bushfires within seconds of becoming observable, significantly reducing response times and helping to minimise damage.

Testing in Victoria

Victoria is currently trialling Threat Hunter as part of the $1.5 million investment from the Australian Government’s Disaster Ready Fund. The pilot program focuses on validating our technology’s accuracy and efficiency in real-world conditions. Following a successful first trial during the 2023-2024 bushfire season, Point Duty is once again enhancing the capability of fire services to protect communities, infrastructure, and flora and fauna during the 2024-2025 season.

Key Features

  • Early Detection: Identifies bushfires within seconds of ignition.\n
  • AI-Powered and Evolving: Continually trained on a vast array of global and region-specific datasets for unparalleled precision.\n
  • Scalable Deployment: Suitable for integration with both localised and large-scale monitoring systems.\n
  • Rapid Alerts: Delivers instant notifications to emergency services and stakeholders via multiple channels.

Supporting Community Safety

Our bushfire detection technology reflects our commitment to helping communities stay safe in the face of increasing climate challenges. By equipping authorities and organisations with timely, actionable insights, we aim to reduce the impact of bushfires and enhance resilience across Australia.

Looking Ahead

As we continue testing in Victoria, we are actively engaging with stakeholders to refine and improve our system. We are excited about the potential of this technology to transform bushfire management and protect lives, property, and the natural environment.

Stay tuned for updates as we work to mitigate the risks of what is forecast to be a high-risk fire season in Australia.
